Carmarthenshire County Council wins prestigious RoSPA Leisure Sector Award
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Actif Sport and Leisure service has been named winner of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Leisure Sector Award, recognising excellence in health and safety performance.
The award is the highest accolade in its sector and is presented to only one organisation nationally each year. It reflects years of continuous improvement in health and safety standards, with year‑on‑year accreditations culminating in this top award.
The award was made for health and safety performance during the period 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025 and announced during the 70th anniversary year of the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards.
The RoSPA Leisure Sector Award places Actif Sport and Leisure alongside nationally and internationally recognised organisations previously acknowledged by RoSPA.
The award recognises excellence in leadership, governance, safety culture and risk management. The RoSPA Awards are the world’s largest and most prestigious health and safety awards programme, with the 2026 awards attracting around 2,000 entries from nearly 60 countries.
This achievement reflects the collective efforts and working practices of the wider Actif Sport and Leisure team.
The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards celebrate organisations’ ongoing commitment to protecting people, setting high safety standards and demonstrating best practice across their sectors.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture & Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans, said:
“This award reflects the high standards expected across Carmarthenshire County Council and recognises the consistent work taking place to ensure health and safety is embedded in everyday practice.
