We work with Family Centres, Meithrins and Libraries where our team of Active Young People Officers provide training and ongoing support to leaders to enable them to deliver fun active sessions confidently.
Programmes for Early Years
The focus is on providing numerous opportunities for young children to be active, build confidence and motivation, and enhance their physical skills such as running, kicking, catching, throwing, and balancing.
Learning and developing these skills from a young age is important so that children, as they get older, can use these skills in sport and physical activity.
Childminders
We work with childminders within Carmarthenshire. The Active Young People team provide training and resources to support childminders enabling them to run physical activity sessions.
The sessions focus on developing their physical skills such as running, jumping, throwing, catching and kicking in a fun environment. The team keep in touch with childminders and share good practices.
Family Centres
We work with Family Centres across Carmarthenshire.
The settings receive training with free resources followed by mentoring / support sessions from the Active Young People team. Each setting will have loan bags which contain activity cards and equipment to encourage physical activity sessions at home with families and to develop their physical skills, confidence and motivation.
Meithrins
We work with Meithrins in Carmarthenshire and offer them training and free resources. Following on from training, the Active Young People team mentor and support individual settings.
They also receive some loan bags which can be sent home with the children to encourage physical activity sessions at home with their families.
