Actif lead the way using Motiview - Connecting Communities Through Cycling

A new 60+ Cycle Fit programme launched last month at Cefneithin Hall. Using Motiview technology, participants have enjoyed virtual cycling adventures around the world — from the streets of Chicago to the landmarks of India and Paris.

The weekly sessions, delivered by Actif Places coaches every Monday, are designed to keep participants active and socially connected while promoting both physical and mental wellbeing.

Motiview, which began in 2017, continues to go from strength to strength — and now Carmarthenshire has become part of its international story.

On Wednesday, November 5, Jan and Alexander from Road Worlds for Seniors travelled from Norway to Cefneithin to present medals to local participants. Those taking part joined thousands of others around the globe for the World Senior Championships — marking the first venue in Wales to take part!

This year’s challenge saw 7,800 cyclists from 13 countries clock up an incredible 20,000km. Countries included Japan, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark and all the home nations.

New Motiview films will be produced in Wales next spring, allowing participants to enjoy virtual cycling experiences closer to home as part of future sessions.

Jan Ebbeswik, President, Road Worlds for Seniors said: “It’s been great to work with the Actif team to bring Motiview to Carmarthenshire. Cefneithin was the first venue in the whole of Wales to introduce the project. Motiview isn’t just about fitness and cycling — it’s also about connecting people and bringing joy through shared activity.

"It really makes a difference to see participants enjoying themselves and staying active in their local community. I look forward to seeing these sessions introduced in more venues across Carmarthenshire in the future.”

Actif Places brings health-related, fitness and children’s activities to community venues across Carmarthenshire, with sessions currently available in eight locations.
