Take a look at this video to see how: [Actif Anywhere - Actif](https://actif.wales/actif-anywhere/) With a flexible timetable, schools can choose from a wide variety of sessions tailored to different age groups and fitness levels. Whether joining live or accessing the extensive video library, schools can integrate physical activity into their day in a way that suits their schedule. The programme supports curriculum-based skill development through activities like dance and ball skills, reducing pressure on teachers to deliver P.E. The on-demand sessions provide an ideal resource for after-school clubs, which, combined with an adult fitness zone for staff makes Actif Anywhere for Schools a comprehensive wellbeing resource for the whole school community. Pupils are invited to attend a number of coaching workshops and supported by our team with ongoing mentoring to ensure they develop confidence within their role as a young leader. The programme has seen strong engagement across Carmarthenshire, with 75 pupils from 7 secondary schools engaged in the 2024/25 academic year. Pupils can access the opportunity and programme from year 10 through their secondary school Physical Education departments or register below - [Actif Leaders Programme 2025-26](https://volunteer.actif.wales/volunteers/opportunity/10255776) ### Young Ambassador Programme Our YA Programme continues to support pupils from year 5 through to year 13 to become the next generation of leaders in sport. Working with both primary, secondary and Additional Learning Needs schools our team provides the ambassadors with training and mentoring so that they develop into confident leaders. **Bronze Sports Ambassadors:**Empowering Year 5 and 6 pupils to be the voice and advocate of physical activity and sport within their schools delivering and leading extra-curricular activities. All primary schools are invited to nominate their Young Sports Ambassadors who then gain access to a range of training and support sessions throughout the academic year to start their journey towards being a leader / volunteer of the future. **Silver Sports Ambassadors:** Developing young people to become future leaders of Wales through sport and physical activity. Pupils in year 8-11 apply to be their secondary silver ambassador and through a selection process are elected their school ambassadors.  These ambassadors are provided additional training outside of the curriculum to help inspire and motivate their peers to be active for life. **Gold Sports Ambassadors**: Are interviewed to be countywide leaders, who access regional training and support which are then responsible for empowering young people with a voice to influence the choices of opportunities to be healthier and more active. They are utilised to facilitate activities, build belonging, and tackle inequalities, to ensure young people can gain equal access to opportunities to be healthier and more active. Pupils in secondary schools are invited to apply for the position as their school Silver / Gold Ambassadors, applications are open from 1st September and close on 4th October. ### Young Sports Ambassadors in Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Units We are proud to launch a Young Sports Ambassador training programme tailored specifically for ALN students in secondary and primary school ALN units across Carmarthenshire. This initiative ensures that ALN pupils have the same access to leadership, responsibility, and inclusion as their mainstream peers. The training is tailored to the pupils needs. They look at the theory of different aspects of what the role of a Young Ambassador would be in their unit and then put what they have learnt into practical sessions supporting the staff and pupils in their unit to have safe, and fun sessions. The programme has been specially adapted to meet the unique strengths and needs of ALN students. Here's how it works: - Different levels of responsibility tailored to each student - Practical training sessions focused on leading and assisting physical activities - Supporting staff with setting up and managing equipment - Assisting other pupils during sports activities at their school - Buddy system with mainstream Young Ambassadors - Mentoring by Actif Inclusion Officers within each school This layered approach gives students the confidence and capability to take on leadership roles in school sport and beyond. ### Training Opportunities for School Staff **Physical Literacy:**Our Active Young People officers work with primary schools to upskill, mentor and support them to deliver sessions in curricular and extra-curricular time. Ongoing support by the team, ensures that staff are confident to deliver high-quality physical activity sessions. The resource is designed to give leaders a variety of ideas to help them encourage children to develop their physical competence, confidence and motivation to continue to take part in physical activity and sport. **Sport Specific:**We work closely with National Governing Bodies of Sport to ensure that school staff have opportunities to attend sport specific coaching courses so that they can deliver these sports in their schools. Giving children experiences in a variety of different sports from a young age! We work with governing bodies such as; Welsh Athletics – Run, Jump Throw, British Cycling – Ready Set Ride, Welsh Netball – Essential Skills and Welsh Basketball – Teachers Award to name a few. ### Festival/Events Throughout the school year, we organise a number of multi-skills and sport festivals and competitions where pupils have the opportunity to try a sport for the first time! We do this by; • Working in partnership with external organisations such as Swansea City Foundation, National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGB’s) including Cricket Wales and local sports clubs to develop participation opportunities within Carmarthenshire. • Ensuring exit routes from school projects and programmes to community. We understand that not all schools can attend our festivals and events and are working on a Festival Toolkit: In addition to our own festivals, we’re creating an easy-to-use toolkit to help teachers and schools confidently deliver fun and engaging sports festivals for their pupils at their school or in their community. ### Youth Empowerment With funding secured from Hywel Dda, Actif Communities launched the Youth Empowerment initiative—an early intervention programme aimed at supporting young people aged 11–14 who are at risk of substance misuse. This preventative project was delivered in collaboration with key partners such as the NHS, charities, outdoor education centres and Actif facilities. A new project is due to be launched in October 2025. ### School Sports Survey School Sport Survey 2026: The Sport Wales national survey gives pupils a voice in shaping PE and school sport. The results are Estyn-recognised, support school self-evaluation and planning. Results of school sports survey and action plan templates to support schools can be found here - [School Sport Survey 2022 \| Sport Wales](https://www.sport.wales/research-and-insight/school-sport-survey/) ### Actif After-School Programme New for the 2025/26 academic year, our Actif After-School programme brings fun, active learning to primary schools across the County. Led by our team of qualified sports coaches, these after-school sessions are designed to help children develop their fundamental movement skills through engaging, play-based activities. The programme follows Actif’s innovative ‘Skills for Sport’ passport scheme, supporting children to build confidence, improve coordination, and develop a positive, lifelong relationship with physical activity and sport. Disability Sport Wales have developed a Toolkit which is intended to support the development of inclusive thinking, planning, development and delivery by the club so that ultimately, they could deliver across the spectrum to disabled and non-disabled people, potentially in a range of different formats. This toolkit is about good practice across the board, and in doing this will mean that opportunities for involvement in the sport(s) the clubs offer will increase. Whether you are an established player or you’re new to the game, Walking Rugby is a much simpler version of the traditional rugby game. Less physical than a standard game of rugby, the aim is to participate, compete and most importantly, enjoy yourself. Walking Rugby is a fantastic way to keep fit and have fun. It is a non-contact game, where the rules of touch rugby are applied but without the running! If you’re thinking this sounds a bit slow for you, the continuous nature of the game means you will clock up some impressive distances while walking but with much lower risk of injury. Whether you're an ex-player with years of experience or a complete beginner, male or female players over 18 years of age the session promotes social and physical benefits to all. With thanks to our partners in the WRU and Scarlets, there are now Walking Rugby teams across Carmarthenshire. To find your nearest Walking Rugby team, please use our activity finder. Walking Rugby is now a national movement, with clubs all over Wales and this summer has seen a huge number of highly successful Walking Rugby festivals. The festivals are played for fun and scores are not kept meaning there are no winners or losers. Come along to have fun and get active. Sessions are open to anyone aged 18 and over. If you already belong to a club which doesn’t have a walking team yet, get in touch with us to find out how we can support your club in establishing a team. Contact us at actifcommunities@carmarthenshire.gov.uk **WALKING FOOTBALL** Walking Football has become increasingly popular. It's designed to help people get fit or maintain an active lifestyle no matter what their age and fitness, as well as support people getting back into football if they have given it up due to age or injury. Actif Communities, in partnership with Wales Walking football, have set up a number of Walking Football sessions across Carmarthenshire in order to increase opportunities for adults to participate in physical activity. As the name suggests, Walking Football is an adapted version of the traditional sport where players walk instead of running or sprinting. This exciting and inclusive sport encourages people to stay active regardless of their age, fitness level and ability. Accuracy and communication are doubly important when you are not allowed to run for the ball. Not only are there lots of health benefits, Walking Football can be the perfect opportunity for those looking to make new friends, have fun and try something new. The sessions are aimed for anyone aged 18 and over, regardless of football experience and ability. **WALKING NETBALL** Walking Netball is a slower version of the game we all love; it is netball, but at a walking pace. Women the length of the country have started playing Walking Netball for the fun, laughter and camaraderie the social session brings, as much as the health benefits on offer. Although there is no running, the continuous nature of netball makes this the perfect way to burn calories, clock the steps and get a sweat on with a reduced toll on joints and muscles. Walking Netball has been designed so that anyone can play it regardless of age or fitness level. From those who have dropped out of the sport they love due to serious injury, to those who believed they had hung up their netball trainers many years ago, Walking Netball really is for everyone. Walking Netball is aimed at encouraging participants into the game to stay active and take part in a team sport which is challenging, sociable and rewarding. Participation in Walking Netball can have many health benefits such as improving mental health and well-being, reduces loneliness and isolation. Walking Netball as the name suggests is netball without running, some of the rules have been adapted to suit the pace of the game such as having more time for possession of the ball and shorter games. If you hung your netball trainers up years ago or are a complete beginner, the sessions are suitable for anyone aged 18 and over. ## How to pre-book Community Sessions? ### How to book on the app? Active Story Time is a fun way for young children to be active whilst listening to a story. The idea is easy; whilst reading a book, your child can move like the characters in the story! Books with animals in the story are especially great! Children can use their imagination and have fun! Bring the fun of Active Storytime home! Borrow a loan bag with play equipment—from Llanelli, Carmarthen, or Ammanford Library. To access a bag, just ask a friendly member of staff at the library. **Here’s some ideas:** Ten Little Dinosaurs – can your child stomp like a dinosaur? Walk with BIG steps/lunges around the room, stomp quietly or loudly! What the Ladybird Heard at the Seaside – walk sideways like a crab…. Elfed’s New Friend – slither like a snake, jump like a kangaroo, be tall like a giraffe. Going on a Bear Hunt; children can go under, through and over obstacles that you have within the home. For example, they can crawl under the table or a blanket. Sometimes I want to Curl up in to a Ball – curl up in a ball like a hedgehog, jump high like a frog, run fast like a cheetah. If you don’t have these books at home, why not visit your local library? We have also provided activity bags that you can loan out too! Engaging activities to make stories come alive while getting your child moving. Using a book with animals and move like the animals in the story – jump like a kangaroo, hope like a bunny. Try these at home or check out your local library. --- URL: https://actif.wales/community-development/activities/find-a-sports-club/1433 Title: Find a Sports Club # Find a Sports Club - [Community Development](https://actif.wales/community-development/) - [Support & Funding For your Sports Club](https://actif.wales/community-development/support-funding-for-your-sports-club/) - [Find a Sports Club](https://actif.wales/community-development/activities/find-a-sports-club/1433) Are you looking to join a club or enroll your child in a club? You can mix things up to make it easier or more challenging using these ideas: - **Space** – Move to a bigger or smaller area to make the game easier or harder. - **Task** – Switch up what they’re doing. Change the movement or how far they need to throw, kick, or run. - **Equipment**– Try different balls or items. A big, light, soft ball makes catching easier, while a smaller one makes it more challenging and exciting! - **People** – Play on your own, in pairs, threes, or small groups for variety. - **Speed** – Add a time challenge or encourage faster movement to make it extra fun! Enjoy fun activities designed for practicing skills and movement together as a family or individually. **Month 1 - Foxes** Skill of the Month - Foxes - YouTube Tap to unmute [Skill of the Month - Foxes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbXgTid_9w4) [Actif Sport and Leisure](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoRqoG2tHG_c5nA5xffFE2g) ![thumbnail-image](https://yt3.ggpht.com/gNS9gmS-n3yFB6oDf6O3v1_sKnckNGOqGoQudhqlS-5OV8RUuFwIuE0EA6o2MQzr_W6DOvgY-g=s68-c-k-c0x00ffffff-no-rj) Actif Sport and Leisure260 subscribers [Watch on](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbXgTid_9w4) **Month 2 - Underarm Throw** Skill of the Month - Underarm Throw - YouTube Tap to unmute [Skill of the Month - Underarm Throw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjdHSRnmV30) [Actif Sport and Leisure](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoRqoG2tHG_c5nA5xffFE2g) ![thumbnail-image](https://yt3.ggpht.com/gNS9gmS-n3yFB6oDf6O3v1_sKnckNGOqGoQudhqlS-5OV8RUuFwIuE0EA6o2MQzr_W6DOvgY-g=s68-c-k-c0x00ffffff-no-rj) Actif Sport and Leisure260 subscribers [Watch on](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjdHSRnmV30) **Month 3 - Balancing** Skill of the Month - Balance - YouTube Tap to unmute [Skill of the Month - Balance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvADpzzW47g) [Actif Sport and Leisure](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoRqoG2tHG_c5nA5xffFE2g) ![thumbnail-image](https://yt3.ggpht.com/gNS9gmS-n3yFB6oDf6O3v1_sKnckNGOqGoQudhqlS-5OV8RUuFwIuE0EA6o2MQzr_W6DOvgY-g=s68-c-k-c0x00ffffff-no-rj) Actif Sport and Leisure260 subscribers [Watch on](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvADpzzW47g) **Month 4 - Catching** Skill of the month - Catching an Object - YouTube Tap to unmute [Skill of the month - Catching an Object](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fADy6fA31zk) [Actif Sport and Leisure](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoRqoG2tHG_c5nA5xffFE2g) ![thumbnail-image](https://yt3.ggpht.com/gNS9gmS-n3yFB6oDf6O3v1_sKnckNGOqGoQudhqlS-5OV8RUuFwIuE0EA6o2MQzr_W6DOvgY-g=s68-c-k-c0x00ffffff-no-rj) Actif Sport and Leisure260 subscribers [Watch on](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fADy6fA31zk) ## Active Storytime Bringing books to life through fun and games! --- URL: https://actif.wales/community-development/activities/whats-on/ Title: What's On # What's On - [Community Development](https://actif.wales/community-development/) - [Children and Young People](https://actif.wales/community-development/children-and-young-people/) - [What's On](https://actif.wales/community-development/activities/whats-on/) Looking to build your child’s confidence from a balance bike to a pedal bike?
